"We climate scientists are not ecofanatics "- You Could Have Fooled Me!

Sir John Houghton , former head of the Met defends climate scientists and the IPCC, saying :

If the IPCC has a fault, it is that its reports have been too cautious, not alarmist
In the UK only about 26 per cent of the population believe the scientific consensus that climate change is happening and is man-made. Many feel they are being steamrollered into believing something false or flakey that will make them poorer or stop them flying.
I can't imagine where the public would have got such  ideas ! Maybe from George Monbiot who equates flying with child abuse or from OFGEM suggesting power price hikes of up to 60% from current high levels.
Maybe they also have seen the work of Phil Jones and the AGW elite as "false and flakey" after reading incriminating emails.
The IPCC is not a self-selected group of scientists with a political agenda.
That is correct - it is a group of scientists selected from a group of alarmist scientists in each country . Skeptical scientists ( and there are many ) are not represented any more.

"with a mandate to produce accurate, balanced assessments about human-induced climate change."
How can it be balanced when scientists of only one view are chosen?

The IPCC process also makes it impossible for green propaganda to be slipped in.

That statement is too stupid to be commented on.
Perhaps there is a criticism that can be made of IPCC scientists: they have been too slow publicly to defend their integrity.
What integrity? Climategate has shown up the lack of integrity of those scientists at the top of the totem pole.
Sir John should stick to being retired and not write such rubbish!

  1. Have you noticed that AGW believers are mostly over 50, male and Anglo-Celtic?
