EVERY power bill in the state will be required to show how much money is paying for green schemes and the carbon tax in a clear shot by Premier Barry O'Farrell at the Gillard government.
Recent reports by the Auditor-General and IPART have confirmed a significant part of electricity bill rises are being caused by the need to meet the federal government's renewable energy targets being met.
About a third of a 17 per cent - or average $216 a year rise - next year is due to green schemes.
Mr OFarrell will press power companies to show how much the green lobby is hurting the punters, with the government claiming it will be $92 a quarter on average, once the carbon tax is introduced.
"Electricity bills will be required to show the impact of the carbon tax for every household," Mr O'Farrell said.
He said the Government had written to the state's three major electricity retailers to inform them of the Government's plans and to consult on the exact information to be provided, covering the cost of renewable energy schemes including the bungled solar bonus scheme and the carbon tax.

If companies did not agree, the government would introduce regulations to force them to comply.
"The public have a right to know how much all these schemes and taxes are adding to their bills," he said.
"NSW Treasury estimates that the carbon tax alone will add up to $498 a year to household bills and families should be reminded about this impost every time their bill arrives.
"Businesses will pay anything from $927 to $4191 extra a year, depending on usage.

It's kinda ironic that the higher the concentration of CO2 in the air, the faster and more strongly plants grow. CO2 is the real green gas and without it the planet would be dead. But PM Brown and his kind call it 'pollution'. Strange times we live in.
ReplyDeleteA third of the 17% increase may be directly attributable to the green measures but I would be willing to bet that another 50% of the rises would be indirectly attributable. Such things as providing the HV lines to windpower farms, administrative (and safety) costs for feed in solar power, backup generation costs and costing of risks need to be listed as well.
