The non-appointment of Peter Costello to chair the Future Fund because he was insufficiently experienced in financial matters (according to the Labor Government) prompts one to look at the mess Labor has made of the Lucky Country in four years and the collective experience their leadership has brought to the job. Peter Costello handed these incompetents a Government free of debt with billions of dollars in reserve funds and now these fools, who are adding 100 million dollars to the National Debt every week , are criticising the competence of arguably the greatest treasurer this country has seen.

A Brown Recluse spider biting a student in Texas has triggered the usual cries from the everything-bad-is-caused-by-global-warming crowd predicting that the spider "may" move northwards even to New York. The fact that the girl was bitten in a geographical location identified as a habitat in a 1940 map has not stopped alarmist promotion of this non-story.
|US Brown Recluse habitat (1940)|
The Brown Recluse spider is known as the most deadly spider in North America, and due to global warming its population is spreading to a town near you.
But nothing can demonstrate the danger of the notorious Loxosceles reclusa than the story of Texas Christian University student Nikki Perez, who was bitten by one such spider in September 2011 - with horrendous results
The article is rounded off with a "researcher" being consulted for an expert opinion using the alarmist words "fear, could, and possible" omitting the usual "may and might" for a change
Experts fear that spider bites like these could be on the rise, as the Brown Recluse spider continues its population spread.
Kansas University researcher Erin Saupe predicts a possible migration of the Brown Recluse by 2020, predicting that the spiders could move further north toward portions of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and even New York.
|Rainmaker in Action|
Tim Flannery's propaganda tour through NSW with his Climate Commission comrades warning of a climate-change related "drying trend" seems to have triggered huge rainfall and flooding in each of the towns where he delivered his apocalyptic message. Globally we have witnessed the Gore effect where freezing weather follows the failed latter day prophet Al Gore and now we have our very own Flannery effect where the drought preaching professor brings flooding rains! Meanwhile the Climate Commission claims it is all the media's fault because they are confusing climate with weather and I assume floods are being confused with droughts as well by foolish journalists.
Australia's decision to go it alone with a fixed $23 per tonne carbon tax will cost the country $30 billion if overseas prices stay at around $10 as predicted according to economic modelling. With falling global temperatures this tax equates to economic self-mutilation with all pain and no gain. The same modelling says that the Coalition alternative policy will not achieve it's aims either.

Green Business has the story of how the town of Wrexham has installed 30,000 solar panels in a location which has an average of only 3 hours of sunshine for 4 months of the year. Tenants in 3000 homes will achieve "savings" of £200 to £300 on their electricity bills which will of course be added to the bills of pensioners and consumers in other parts of the UK . The council also will be the beneficiary of solar largesse to the tune of one million pounds a year from feed-in tariffs, also ripped off the same non-solar consumers. The dopey solar scheme is so bad it has even been labelled a rip-off by George Monbiot , one of the leading AGW supporters in the UK who realises that having consumers pay ten times production costs for "free" solar electricity doesn't make any sense. The scheme has been supported by the Lib-Dims in the governmetn although glimmers of Conservative common sense can be seen in the decision to reduce the subsidies.
The fancy footwork of desperate warmists and their tame press can be seen in the latest Huffington post foray into explaining how global warming is causing those pesky huge snowstorms in Europe that aren't supposed to happen in the brave new world of man-made warming.

Pensioners on the breadline and people on the surgery wait-list for years will be delighted in some of the projects funded by the 300 million tax-payer dollars being doled out by the Australian Research Council. Studying the role of emotion and morality in climate change (scam) messages obviously trumps assisting old people with outrageous electricity bills. Researching how non-existent global warming is affecting the size of birds and is more important than a knee replacement operation to remove chronic pain. While Labor is borrowing 100 million dollars every week it is good to see only economically vital projects like "William Blake in the Twentieth Century" and 16th century Florentine economics are getting taxpayer grants. As global warming causes everything I would like to suggest a research project into how climate change is increasing the number of Labor economic morons in Canberra

Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.
Every election competing political parties promote "policies" which is doublespeak these days for spending money they do not have and raising debt which future taxpayers will have to pay unless the country opts for the Greek solution i.e. bankruptcy. When national budgets are discussed figures of billions and trillions of dollars are bandied about and it is difficult for the average person to get a handle on it. Ross Greenwood has analysed the US financial position and scaled it down to a household budget for better understanding.
* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts: $385
Got It ?????
Now the voters can vote for Obama on his financial management skills as shown above.
